How we shoot a new-build interior

New homes photograph well, but they have their own traps. Here is our usual order.

1. Walk the house with you or the builder, noting anything unfinished that we should avoid or fix in editing.

2. Turn on every light and check bulbs, since mismatched color temperatures show up fast in white kitchens.

3. Shoot the kitchen, great room and primary suite first, while daylight is best through the back windows.

4. Fly the drone for the lot, street and any pond or preserve behind the home.

5. Finish with the garage, lanai and small details, then build the floor plan.
