Apartment photography and videography for Katal Insaat in Alsancak, Izmir: living and dining rooms, sea-facing corners, bedrooms, bath and street exterior.
Sea light and beige leather in an Alsancak apartment
This job for Katal Insaat in Alsancak, Izmir ran three hours and combined stills with video. The living room is the main frame: a long beige sofa, a marble-topped coffee table and a dining table with rounded chairs, all beneath a stepped ceiling with a lit cove. A glass wall fills with the sea, and one corner holds a leather lounge chair and ottoman turned toward it.
We also photographed the kitchen, the bedrooms and a marble bathroom. From the street, the building reads as a dark glass front between two palm trees, with a sales office sign on the ground floor. Motion work like this is described on our videography page.
Keeping the horizon and the sofa in the same frame
The water outside is much brighter than the beige room around it. We expose so the horizon keeps its sparkle while the leather and wood grain stay readable, rather than letting the window blow to white. The warm cove lighting in the ceiling is left on because it gives the living area its glow. The street exterior is the opposite problem, a dark facade in shadow between lighter towers, so we shoot it upright and level to keep the building's lines clean.
